After all these amazing days spent with friends in BC it was time to get on the road back east – I had to return my car in Calgary and get a train from Edmonton to Winnipeg where I was going to fly to Toronto.
Since there’s a few things I still wanted to see on the way to Calgary, I drove down to Seattle for one night.
It’s been a great stopover, Seattle always is an exciting city to stay in, even if it’s only for a couple hours. The next day I crossed the biggest part of the state of Washington, staying in a motel in Spokane.

The following day I went off to cross through Idaho to Montana, where I stayed the night in a motel about 30 minutes south of Kalispell, right on Highway 93 (oh hello, you again! – I used Highway 93 south of Las Vegas a couple of weeks earlier).
You may ask yourself, why is he always taking the long road to get from A to B? Well, the answer lies on the route of the following day: the 6 hours drive to Calgary took me through Glacier National Park – what an amazing scenery! As you know, video editing takes time, so I’ll share some shots and a short video with you at a later point.
Sadly, I had to return my beloved Mustang once I arrived in Calgary.

The next day took me up to Edmonton – I have to admit, I did not expect anything from that city, but was blown away by how liveable and attractive the city center is in summer. Not very touristy though, so unless you just want to hang out in a park and do nothing, have a weird interest in the oil industry or want to go through the 100 beer they have on tap at the Craft Beer Market, one day is pretty much enough to see what there is to see.

On to the next city I was told there was nothing to see – Winnipeg! I have to admit I wasn’t looking forward to the 20 hours train ride, but as usually, it turned out being an adventure of it’s own. I had a great time just looking out the window, reading books, talking to strangers and listening to onboard Concerts (#awesome!).

Winnipeg itself saw me staying in the fanciest Hotel I’ve ever been in – darn, everything was shiny and classy, my suitcases were carried up and down staircases for me and the room I stayed in was just fabulously beautiful. Winnipeg was a pleasant surprise again, with a nice and warm climate, lovely people, nice parks and a smaller, but still nice downtown core. Altough not a tourists must see, I certainly enjoyed my stay in Manitoba’s capital city and would stop over again anytime I’m in the area.
And all of a sudden – there was only one stop left.
